Personalised Cushions

I absolutely love making personalised cushions.  I like producing something bearing in mind who it is for.  And now I am going to share with you pictures of the cushions I have made.  Unfortunately, they are not of best quality because when they are ready I just quickly take a snapshot with my mobile, and they are gone.

This was my first cushion and it was made for my boyfried.  He is a sleepyhead and he likes having a small pillow under his head.  This inspired me to make a cushion especially for him with a wording saying 'Good Night Love'.  He loves it and is even unhappy every time when I displace it.  And when I wash the cushion cover he himself put the pad inside :)

Another one, was made for my friend with a supportive wording: 

'There is no elevator to success

You have to take the stairs'.

This one was made for a new born boy called Hywyn.  He is Welsh and I decided to put a sheep on the cushion cause it is kind of a symbol of Wales.  

And this is my favourite one, this is the master piece :)  I made it for a little girls's birthday.  In the left corner there is a little pocket where the lollipop could be inserted or, as my boyfriend suggested, a condom :)

Embroidered Thongs

It is time for my first themed post.  Today, I am going to write about the thongs! :)

I do not know how it is with you but I love wearing them.  However, I find it difficult to get ones which are nice looking and at the same time comfortable, long lasting and machine washable.  When the thong is nice it is synthetic or looses its colour after first/second wash.  When it is made of cotton it is comfortable but usually looking boring. 

This inspired me to make something what combines all the properties mentioned above.  Namely, I took 100% cotton thongs which are comfortable and long lasting and combined them with the embroidery of my own design.  That is what makes them special, the embroidery which is made of the best quality thread (in my opinion) which is also soft and long lasting.  The embroidery does not fade with washing and does not irritate your skin.  I have been wearing the one with my name embroidered (first picture below)  for about two years now and they are my favourite thong.  

I used to be crazy about the underwear, wherever I saw any thongs I had to have them and eventually I ended up with a full drawer of thongs but just with a few decent ones.  So, one day when I just could not close the drawer any more, I decided to sort them and leave only the ones which were comfortable and still nice looking.  At this point I have to mention Gok Wan who, in one of his programmes, suggested having just a few pieces of underwear and replacing them once they are worn out. So, I have been left with just a few, which were practical and I liked wearing them.  I am not tempted any more to shop for underwear because my thongs match all the criteria I have been always seeking for.

Underwear for me, as you probably noticed so far, is a special thing.  I always had my favourite thong which I wore to the parties and a different one for exams.  Even if nobody is going to see them I like when they still look good and also mean something to me.  And I bet we all have those lucky pants.  

This inspired me to do underwear with the message which you can give to your friend, mum, lover and so on.  Those thongs have a special value, once because they are given by you, second because of the message they hold.

I would love to get the underwear saying:

• 'Good Luck' before my exam from my mum, 
• 'The Best Mum' from my daughter (if I had one). 
• 'Forever Yours' from my boyfriend.

And I believe I am not the only one who would love to get them from someone special :

There are days when we just do not want to talk and we can let our 
thongs say it all :) 

Or we just do not feel happy with ourselves and we need something what can give us a bit of confidence or help us remember to love ourselves (because many times women forget about it).

This is my first post on my blog where I am going to share my work with you.

I am a mature student who enjoys embroidery and sewing in her spare time. I have been doing handmade for two years and I used to present my family and friends with it. Because my course was very demanding, my passion had to wait a bit. Now I am having my holidays and I put my heart into it again. Furthermore, I decided it is the perfect time to start promoting my handmade stuff.
